Visit to the Secretariat for Environmental Matters in Guatemala

In February 2020, the Secretariat for Environmental Enforcement Matters (SEEM) under the United States-Colombia Trade Promotion Agreement visited the Secretariat for Environmental Matters (SEM) for the Central America - Dominican Republic - United States Free Trade Agreement (DR – CAFTA), located in Guatemala City, which is hosted by the Secretariat for Central American Economic Integration (SIECA, per its Spanish acronym).

The SEEM met with the SEM team and its different areas to address and discuss administrative aspects, institutional strengthening, outreach activities, the submissions process, and the preparation of factual records. Within these spaces, the Executive Director of the SEEM met with his counterpart Jorge Guzmán, General Coordinator of the SEM, to learn about the experience and good practices of this organization that has been operating for more than 10 years.
